Last Of The Summer Dine!

I'm still picking blackberries in my garden and have been doing so since the middle of July. Tomorrow will see a cooler change in the weather. I'm ready for autumn now. Bring it on!

Whilst visiting my father in law last weekend, I gathered the last of the blackberries there as by the time we go again, they will have gone! It really is one of my best loved summer things to do.
My eyes widen when I see those black glistening berries.

On the outskirts of the blocks of flats, there are blackberry bushes galore and an apple tree at the end. I managed to find some windfalls - enough to have stewed apple and blackberries for dessert.

It's now officially autumn and I am getting my preparations ready for Halloween. I am going to be hosting my friend's day on 28th and I can't wait...I have a few 'tricks' up my sleeve. Call back to see what I am planning. It's gonna be a 'scream'!!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

Howdy pardners! I thought you might like to see some of the things I get 'up to' wiv me mates! You may know by now that my motto is - 'always havin' a larf' and that is exactly what I like to do....in fact....a quote I particularly like is 'I love what I do and I do what I love'.

So without further ado.....a little introduction to the following photos of me an' me mates. Joan and I lived next door to each other from in March 1959 until we got married in 1968 and we have kept in contact ever since. Rita is Joan's cousin and I have known her for as long. Pam is Joan's friend from secondary school and together we have been meeting up every couple of months for a fun day for the past 7 and half years - taking it in turns to host the event. We have called ourselves the KWA - Kent Wives Association!

We are all the same age and have so many things in common. Sometimes, we have a colour scheme and sometimes we have a theme for our get togethers.

On this occasion, we had a cowgirl theme.

After our photo shoot in the garden - pardon the expression, it was time for lunch and what do most cowboy/girls eat? Why....bangers and beans of course!

Time for a hoe down!

Yeehaa! Joan 'hits' the bottle....good thing it's only Ame!

We have so much fun.....laughing until we cry.....Pam thinks it's fun anyway!

These boots are made for.....photographing! A 'signature' photo of mine when we are together.

Soo much fun.....but there we must leave them....until next time...
Check in again to join us for another KWA day.

In memory of Sir Bobby Robson!

Yesterday was the memorial service for Sir Bobby Robson. It was a great loss to the football empire when he died in July. He was a friend of my sister Carol who was the secretary for the Football Association many years ago. She then went on to be the secretary for the Fulham Football club at Craven Cottage, where she still attends their matches.

Here is a photo of them before Bobby became ill.

Rest in peace Sir Bobby Robson.

A chill in the air!

I know it's early but as soon as the temperature drops in the mornings and evenings, it's a sign that Autumn is on it's way and that can only mean one thing! HALLOWEEN!

It's only 7 weeks until Fright Night and I couldn't wait to change my blog setting in preparation.
Eden and Ethan have now returned home. They enjoyed their stay and they were good company for me, giving me cause to laugh at their amusing ways. We had fun together. The washing line was full with their clothes before leaving for home to save their mum the chore. It was a good wash day... the wind was blowing and I happened to receive a poem from a friend that befits the photo.
A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbours passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link
For neighbours always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets'
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the 'company table cloths'
With the intricate design.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
So carefully with pride!
The ages of the children
Could so readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, 'Gone on vacation now'
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and grey,
As neighbours carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way.
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbours knew each other best
By what hung on the line!
Keep warm...toots for now.

Crazy Daisy!

More fun in the sun with the grandchildren. I bought a 'Crazy Daisy' a couple of years ago for the garden.
We haven't had a water hose ban this year, so it was nice that they could play in the garden on a warm and sunny day.

leaps over the water which spurts out of the flower head and flips and flops in all directions.
She tries to catch Ethan but doesn't quite get him! He's too fast for her.

Ethan's turn to soak Eden...
Brrr... the water is rather cold judging by Eden's face....but they had fun.

I'm all about making memories.....GOOD TIMES ahhh!
Toots for now. Enjoy the sun while it lasts.
