En route, I passed a car which had the car radio blaring and I was a little suspicious that someone was planning to assasinate the Queen!! Well, you can't be too careful, can you? I later found out that it was a plain clothes policeman!! *Ü*
A whistle blew and several police mounted motorbikes drove towards the crowd where I was standing. The Queen and Prince Philip were on their way. I videod their arrival and then as the car was very close, I changed to still on my camera! Duh! The camera wasn't quick enough and this is what I managed to get!!
Both the Queen and Prince Philip did a walkabout to speak to the crowd but I was a distance away! She wore a pale pink coat and hat - not the colour I expected her to wear for a cold autumn day by the seaside! Still, she did look good for her age! *Ü*
It's surprising how people clean up a town when they know the queen is coming to visit!
I am sure it will be the last time I get to see her in my lifetime, so it was a special moment for me. I am proud to be British - even though there are many things that I don't like to admit to about my country.

How excitin!!!! Great photo.
I am giving the orders to my kids as it is clean up day, and I keep telling them I want it so clean that the Queen would be proud to have her crown on there, lol.
Great blog. Maybe I should tell my lot that her majesty's coming
What a fantastic story to share Glen.

Lucky you Glen...we haven't heard of any Royal visits here until after the event which I feel is such a shame.

What a great treat...I've never seen them that close up and always a bonus that the town gets cleaned up a little bit more !
did I ever tell you I saw Her Majesty? It was in 1985. I was standing just outside Buckingham Palace. Not many tourists were around. Then suddenly some policemen were a little too observant. My dad told me to get closer to the gate... just in case. Then suddenly a car pulled up in front and went into the gate. There she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! NOBODY was between us...except the glass window of the car. She waved at ME!!! AHHH....
Imagine this young teenage American tourist! Ha ha... my ENGLISH father was with me and was SO excited to see her up close and in person!!!
Lovely post!
