Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

These 3 are my bestest friends in the whole wide world! Joan is in the middle. She and I have been friends for over 51 years. On the left is Rita. Rita is Joan's cousin. On the right is Pam. Pam is Joan's friend from secondary school. Together we are the KWA - Kent Wives Association.

We all met up for a little shopping trip and lunch....and we tested out the garden furniture in M&S.

Rita is the joker in the pack and always has us in fits of laughter!

Lunch is served. We went to an Italian restaurant.

We all had poached salmon with vegetables.

The girls had champagne and I had a non alcoholic pina colada.

We then went off to do a little more shopping.....well....Joan did anyway!

As the celebration was for Joan and Pam's 60th birthdays, it was fitting that they shopped in 'Miss Sixty'!

...and Joan just HAD to go into Pandora's.

We all then went back to Rita's for afternoon tea and cakes, where there were presents to open and a video of Joan's family to watch - made by her eldest son.

I think they liked their bangles!
A fab day was had by all. Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to read it.

Finished bangles

I'm up with the lark today as it is so nice and I'm off to my allotment. You know what they say...the early bird catches the worm!

I want to leave you a photo of the finished bangles that I have made for my 3 friends. We shall be meeting up tomorrow to celebrate two of their 60th birthdays at the weekend. I like to make us a little something.

Have a nice day all. Toots for now and thank you so much for calling by and leaving me lovely comments. I really appreciate it.

***HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOAN***

My best friend is 60 today! I find it hard to believe that we began our friendship over 51 years ago when we moved into a new block of flats in London next door to eachother and we have shared our lives ever since. This is us on my 59th birthday last September.

The magazine cover is something that can be made at www.magmypic.com and is a fun thing to do. There are many magazine covers to choose from.

This is us back in 1992 when she had her 3rd baby...

...and this photo of us was taken back in 1959/1960 on a trip to see the Tower of London.

Joan's cousin Rita and Joan's friend Pam (who was 60 yesterday) and I get together every couple of months for a KWA day. KWA stands for Kent Wives Association!! LOL. We have a day of fun and laughter - sometimes with a theme and sometimes a colour scheme. Check back here in the next few days for some photos of our antics! We have such fun.
Our next day together to celebrate Joan and Pam's 60th birthdays will be on Wednesday. Rita and I are going to be 60 within a day of eachother in September this year, so there will be more celebrations.
I like to make us all a little something when we meet up. I have made us all a bangle. I bought 4 bangles from Claire's for £1 each.
I then rummaged through some of my clothes that were of a similar colour that I no longer need and tore up some of the silky lining in a skirt to cut into strips.

Then I wrapped strips around the bangle to cover - overlapping so that the frayed edges were visible.

I cut flower shapes from other materials including mesh netting, a pair of trousers and a skirt and layered them. I placed a button in the middle and stitched it to the stripped fabric, adding a little glue to secure it. The buttons were from my mum's tin that she had been collecting for many years.

I have seen similar bangles in River Island and all of the ladies shops for a LOT more than it took to make mine, so I am rather chuffed. I think my friends will like them too.

Happy crafting.

I need a Wii!!

Two out of three of my daughters have a Wii! Eden and Ethan came to stay for 2 weeks and they brought their Wii with them. Ethan is tops on the Baseball game. Eden is tops on the Cooking Mama game! Me....I tried both and was rubbish!

That surely means that I need more practice! LOL.

Only problem was ....I didn't get much of a look-in.

So when Cameron got his Wii for Christmas last year, I got to practice more as he lives the nearest to me.

So I began with the waterskiing. Not really my thing.

My favourite is now table tennis and ten pin bowling. I am getting better but I do think that I need a Wii for myself!! I am interested in getting the Wii Fit Plus. That would suit me. Now, where's my already half written Christmas Wish List for 2010?!!

Dear Santa.....
